Sistrum, Lansing Women's Chorus, is a women's community chorus that has been making music for over 25 years. Founded on ideas of social justice, feminism, and creating beautiful music for both ourselves and our community, Sistrum can be found singing at many area events and celebrations as well as traveling across the US to choral events and conferences. Winner of a special Joy of Music citation from The American Prize for artistic vision and infectious performances, Dancing Naked at the Edge of Dawn is Sistrum's second CD and presents their first commissioned piece of music. Our name comes from a musical instrument, a rattle used in ancient Egypt. It was kept in constant motion as a symbol of Isis, the sacred and ever-changing Life Force. Likewise, we draw upon the words, music, and energy of women composers, arrangers and poets to inspire, empower, and entertain our audiences.
January 2005 brought on a season of change for us, as Amy Fogerson left the group and was replaced by Jennifer Barnes. Shortly thereafter, both Gerald White and Gary Rosen also made the decision to leave the group to pursue other ventures, which created openings filled by tenor Greg Whipple and baritone Greg Jasperse. This 50% new group is now eagerly working towards the goal of being a powerful and cohesive musical unit, adding exciting new repertoire while maintaining the spirit and integrity for which Sixth Wave has always been known. Please keep checking back for new and exciting news and updates as things progress.....
Slammin All Body Band is a powerhouse sextet from Oakland, CA, performing a fresh mix of a cappella singing, beatboxing and body music. Deeply rooted in Jazz, Funk, R&B and World Music grooves, this ferociously talented ensemble creates soulful sounds infused with infectious harmonies and lightening-fast improvisations, percussively punctuated by beatboxing and body music -- the kinetic component that sets SLAMMIN apart and on the cutting edge of a cappella performance.
Slavyanka is a men's a cappella chorus based in San Francisco, California, and made up of amateur musicians from varied professions, including computer programmers, scientists, lawyers, and businessmen. The musical demands placed on the Chorus are quite high both because of technical content of the music and the nearly four octave range often required to sing it. We perform most of our music in Russian, though most of us do not speak Russian. Our chorus consists of 25 singers united by a common interest in the choral music of the peoples of Russia and Eastern Europe. Over the years we have compiled an enviable record of achievement.

Song of Atlanta Chorus has a wonderful history. Some of our performers are even beginning to make membership a family tradition, by also recruiting their daughters! We've come a long way along our journey with many interesting highlights and we look forward to our bright future.
The "Atlanta Chapter" was chartered in 1957 as a chapter chorus of Sweet Adelines International. This original chapter, consisting of about 20 women, met weekly for the purpose of becoming educated while singing and performing the barbershop style of harmony. In 1970, two small chapters (The "Atlanta Chapter" and "Song of the South Chapter") decided to merge and became the "Song of Atlanta Chorus" and voila, an amazing chorus was born!.
In December 2008, Los Angeles vocal collective Sonos debuted at the Hotel Cafe with an "intimate, yet scorching performance... brimming with fiery fervor, major dynamics and sexual tension" (Deli Magazine LA ). The group breathes new life into a cappella , giving the genre "a contemporary makeover... prepare to be stunned" (The Guardian UK) on their debut SONOSings, available September 15 on Verve Forecast, on which the group combines a rich, classically choral sensibility with their ultra-modern repertoire and sonic toolkit.
Sonos's imaginative approach has already won plaudits from such tastemakers as Chris Douridas of L.A. bellwether station KCRW-FM, who praised Sonos's "innovative vocal arrangements" and "inspired repertoire, supremely delivered."
It's amazing - even today the Sons of the Pioneers are still mesmerizing long-term fans and creating new ones. They still have sell out crowds and standing ovations. New fans are attracted by the current members' musical ability, by their songs which haunt you long after the concert and by the mystique of the great American West. "It's not something that is connected to hit records and charts and fads. It's just an eternal interest in the American West and they sing about it beautifully and it's written beautifully and that's something that just will never go out of style." as summed up by Doug Green.
